At Modern Divorce Solutions, I help my clients navigate the financial aspects of their divorce. In addition to an attorney, our clients often need assistance and expertise from a financial professional to prepare financial documents and grasp the implications of settlement options.
I provide an analysis of the client’s pre-divorce financial picture. I also work with the client’s attorney to educate the client so they can understand their options for the division of assets, alimony and child support, and projection of the long-term effects of various settlement scenarios.
In my role as an analyst and “financial paralegal” to attorneys, I assist attorneys by preparing clear and simple analyses and documents for litigated, mediated, and collaborative cases. Below is a sample list of my primary forms. I am glad to share these with attorneys upon request.
Document Checklist
The Document Checklist is a comprehensive list of the financial documents we gather, organize, manage, and review for attorneys and their clients. The list includes over 50 different financial documents including tax returns, investment accounts, loans and mortgages, company benefits and insurance, retirement and pension plans, options and deferred compensation plans, college plans and children’s accounts.Real Estate Ownership Questionnaire
The Real Estate Ownership Questionnaire assists attorneys and their client to determine the ownership, character, and tax status of each property.
Bank and Investment Account Questionnaire
The Bank and Investment Account Questionnaire assists attorneys and their client to determine the ownership, character, and tax status of each account.Statement of Assets and Liabilities
The Statement of Assets and Liabilities is an Excel-based list of all assets and liabilities. Once completed, the format can be used by the attorney and/or me to create and present various asset division scenarios in Family Law Software.
Statement of Income and Expenses
The Statement of Income and Expenses is an Excel-based worksheet to assist attorneys and their clients to determine living and children’s expenses both during the relationship and post-divorce. This information can also be transferred to Family Law Software.
